Greetings
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Welcome from the Chairman of the Israel Squash
Rackets Association
This
is the third time that European Junior Squash Championships are being held
in Israel and it is a great personal pleasure for me to welcome you to
Israel's squash scene.
The mayors of Tel Aviv and Ra’anana join me in
extending warmest greetings to all the participating teams, players and
officials.
Special thanks to
our colleagues in the European Squash Federation for their invaluable
assistance in organizing this event.
Squash is a discipline that requires speed,
technique, power and spirit, a sport that fully deserves Olympic
recognition. It is played world wide at spectacular venues with ever
increasing televised popularity.
It is my earnest
hope that the Olympic goal will be reached soon and that future Olympians
will come from among the juniors playing here.
The teams competing at these championships
comprise their countries best young players and I am sure they will
compete passionately, in a spirit of fair play that will make the
championships a worthy and memorable occasion for them and their
supporters.
Good Luck to all you young ambassadors of
squash in the coming years.
We hope this visit will encourage you to
return and that we will see you here again both on and off our courts.

Ken Handler
Chairman

Greeting from
the Mayor of Tel Aviv

The city of Tel Aviv-Yafo is delighted to
co-host the European under 15 and under 17 Junior Squash Team
Championships 2006, one of the most important junior squash tournaments in
the European calendar.
Tel Aviv-Yafo attaches great importance to
sport and allocates substantial resources for the city’s broad and
comprehensive sports activities. The
financial backing of the municipality benefits more than 30 branches of
both team and individual sports.
Hosting international sporting events provides
excellent opportunities for the participants and guests to become
acquainted with Israel and with Tel Aviv-Yafo and the city is delighted to
hold and support different international games and competitions within its
borders.
The stabilization of the security situation
and the apparent end of the intifada increase our hope, that more and more
international events, such as these championships, which attract tourism
and catch the attention of the media, will be held in our city.
This competition is the
first European Squash Championship to be held in Tel Aviv and we look
forward to welcoming 150 participants and visitors from Europe.
The sport of squash is one
of increasing popularity in Israel and this competition will undoubtedly
serve to raise interest among our sporting public.
In Tel Aviv alone the
number of squash players has doubled since 2001 and today the city has
some 3,000 players. There are 12 active squash courts in Tel-Aviv,
including the courts at Tel Aviv Towers, one of the best squash centers in
Israel.
I thank the Israel Squash
Rackets Association and the Sports Department of the municipality and wish
all the participants, their coaches and spectators a successful tournament
and a most enjoyable time in our city.
Ron Huldai
Mayor of Tel Aviv-Yafo

Greeting from the Mayor
of Ra'anana

Dear Visitors,
On behalf of the residents of Ra'anana, I would
like to offer a warm welcome to all the young squash players and their
accompanying officials who will come to Ra'anana in May 2006 to participate
in the European Squash Federation Under 15/17 Championships.
Ra'anana, a city of 75,000 people located in
the Sharon region of central Israel, is well known for its quality of
life, care for the environment and highly developed sports and cultural
life. We invest heavily in sports education and facilities, which, in
addition to the Ra'anana Squash Center, include the Municipal Sports
Center, a 10 court Municipal Tennis Center, a soccer stadium and various
other outdoor sports grounds.
Ra'anana pioneered squash in Israel by opening
the first commercial squash center in 1977. Today, our center, which is
used by over 500 players a month, hosts national championships, open and
closed tournaments, inter club leagues and a thriving masters group, and
is active throughout the year.
It is an honor for our city to co-host the
championships and I hope you will all have time to explore not only
Ra'anana but also some of the many fascinating sites of Israel.
Wishing you all an enjoyable time in Israel
and the best of luck in the championships,
Yours sincerely,

Nahum Hofree
Mayor of Ra'anana
