Welcome to the Web Site of the Israel Squash Rackets Association 

The Israel Squash Rackets Association (ISRA) is the governing body of Squash in Israel. The main responsibilities of the ISRA are:

    * To develop, promote and improve the level of squash in Israel.
    * To encourage youth at schools to play squash by organizing group and individual coaching
    * To organize national championships at senior and junior levels
    * To organize regional and national leagues
    * To provide coaching for national senior and junior teams to represent Israel in international championships
    * Provide opportunities for boys & girls of every age group to play squash
    * To develop a new generation of professional squash coaches and referees.

 

Squash 2009

Israel’s major sporting event this year is the 18th Maccabiah in which squash competitions will take place in July at the Herzlia and Ra’anana Squash Centres.

Participants from 10 countries: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, England, France, Mexico, Scotland, South Africa, and USA, will compete together with Israel’s top players in the team and individual competitions for youth, the men’s and women’s open, and the masters age groups of 35+, 45+, 50+, 55+, 60+ and 65+. A total of approximately 170 squash players will be striving for medals and a high standard of play is anticipated.

Olympic Bid

Extensive efforts have been made by the World Squash Federation in the bid for squash to be accepted as an Olympic sport in 2016. The International Olympic Committee will decide which 2 sports of the 7 candidates will be accepted. There is no doubt that squash deserves its place in the Olympic family and if the bid is successful a surge in the sport’s popularity can be expected. We wish the WSF every success in its efforts.
